The DNA replicates and the spores begin to form. This process is knowns as sporulation. The bacteria needs this to repulcate.

Endospores help bacteria to survive. They are resistant to a lot of things so the bacteria can live longer. It also helps with environmental stress on the bacteria.

It creates resistance to physical and chemical conditions. It allows it to survive in sub-optimal conditions. So, it basically helps it to survive.

In response to limited nutrients or other harsh conditions, many bacteria survive by forming spores that resist the environmental stress. They preserve the bacterial DNA and remain alive but inactive. When the conditions improve, they start growing and the bacteria gets active again.

Bacteria would form endospores because they need it. endospores help bacteria to stay alive. It also helps bacteria DNA.
