Non-vascular plants is a general term for those plants without a vascular system. Vascular plants are those plants that have lignified tissues for conducting water, minerals, and photosynthetic products through the plant. Vascular plants are also known as tracheophytes or higher plants.

In nonvascular plants gametophyte is the dominant generation. In vascular plants gametophytes lack vascular tissue. Vascular plants also grow much faster than nonvascular plants.

nonvascular plants grow close to the soil. Vascular plants photosynthesize when the soil surface is dry. They obtain water from the soil below the surface. they have vascular tissue that transports water and mineral nutrienst from roots and leaves.

Vascular platns lack certain vascular tissues, therefore they grow faster than nonvascular. Nonvascular is a plant that grows close to the soil surface.

Vascular plants contain tissues. Nonvascular plants lack these tissues. They are different because they have different tissues.
