Foot bones from Prather Ranch cows are cleaned, then turned into a variety of implants for humans, including these screws for knee surgeries.
Is it right that we are using animal bones to fix human problems? Do you think that there will be side affects of doing this in the long run?

I think that it's ok to use animal bones for human problems as long as we're not killing the animals for that purpose. I think that there could be problems associated with the animal bones because they might not always fit correctly. I think it would be a good scientific advancement however.
I think it is a good idea. However there may be side effects of using foreign material in our body. We used to use pig hearts for heart tranplants but it did not work well because our immmune system attacked the foreign heart.
I think it will be fine. Bones are just bones, it's not like you're transplanting animal blood into your system. Your body would be just as likely to reject a titanium screw as it would a bone.
I think it would be a good idea. Like thibault said, it would be just a likely to reject a pin as an animal bone. How would it fit though?
